Jack Taylor #7528

IĘbought this second hand in, I am reasonably sure 1983 from a man in Yarm near Stockton on Tees - I am originally from Middlesbrough about 4 miles from the original Taylor builders. It is predominantly white with red inlaid lugs and a 50th anniversary sticker on the front of the seat tube. The brake set is original Mafac levers and Cantilevers, though with all new cables throughout, Transmission is the original TA set with 30, 42 and 54 chainrings on the front, rear is a new 5 speed 14-28 shimano block though this will be changed to a 6 speed block soon. Bars are new Ambrosio Campio del Monde 44 cm with foam touring padding fitted, saddle is a Madison G12 that I bought for it when I got the bike as I never got used to Brookes saddles, wheels are 27 x 1 1/4" 36 hole Jalco rims handbuilt onto Suntour XC hubs with Schwalbe marathon tyres. I replaced the original dodgy dynamo set with a B & M S6 dynamo and halogen front light - works much better. I have also put on a set of clipless pedals - I know they are not as aesthetically pleasing as toe clips but they are very functional for long journeys. I also intend to replace the rear wheel with a 40 hole once I find a good enough quality rim and get around to building the wheel.
